Laidlaw at Orange
Laidlaw College will align with general community settings at Orange. Guidance from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) enables organisations like Laidlaw to determine what specific settings we may adopt to enable a good learning environment and to support the wellbeing of everyone on campus. We continue to monitor advice for the tertiary sector and will update Laidlaw’s settings as required.
For reference, the Covid-19 Protection Framework Orange settings for tertiary education may be found here.
Mask Use
Under the Orange setting mask use is no longer mandatory. That said, we encourage mask use on campus particularly in public areas (including libraries), in lecture rooms, in one-on-one meetings and in poorly ventilated areas. Please respect the choices that individuals make in wearing masks. They’re still commonplace in many parts of our lives and our campuses are just another area where you can expect to see others wearing a mask.
Room Capacity
Under Orange, we will moderately increase the seating in rooms as needed to support the delivery of lectures and a good learning environment. It’s important that we still provide sufficient spacing in enclosed rooms and that we enable as much ventilation as possible.
Health and Wellbeing
Usually, at this time of year, we’d be reminding everyone about the upcoming flu season. This year is not that different. It’s likely that we’ll be impacted by a combination of lingering Covid-19 and fresh exposure to the flu. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and recover. And please continue to inform your lecturers if you are unwell and will miss a class. You will still be able to zoom in to classes if you are feeling well enough.
If you become ill with Covid-19 or are required to isolate due to being a close contact, please email [email protected] so we can keep track and continue to support you.
