Distance Learning
Distance Learning is Laidlaw’s “virtual campus” which allows you to study in your own space and in your own time. It offers a lot of flexibility, meaning that you can fit study around your other commitments, such as work or family life.
You can study just one course at a time, or take as many courses as you can manage up to a full time load. Our courses are designed to enable you to study wherever you live in Aotearoa New Zealand, and where you find it most convenient.
You will get access to learning material that is designed specifically with distance learners in mind: videos from your lecturers, course notes, readings, and audiovisual resources. Regular online tutorials are hosted, usually in the evenings, to allow space for discussion and connection with course tutors and fellow students. In addition, as a Distance Learning student you can also choose to join the timetabled lecture by Zoom, or even join the class on campus if it happened to suit.
You might also like to consider re-organising your schedule or travelling to attend those courses that are taught as blocks, usually at our Henderson campus. Please see the timetables page for more information.
We have a dedicated team of student support staff who understand the tensions of managing distance learning study and who are here to walk alongside you.
The following programmes are available by distance learning:
