Te Wānanga Amorangi Laidlaw College is pleased to announce it is one of the first providers in the country to receive approval from Matatū Aotearoa Teaching Council and NZQA for programmes that meet the new Initial Teacher Education requirements.

The one-year Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) expands Laidlaw’s offerings into secondary teacher education, while the Bachelor of Education (Primary) builds on Laidlaw’s history of training high quality primary school teachers in Auckland and Christchurch.

Dr Yael Klangwisan, Head of Education at Laidlaw, says, “The strength of our programmes is in authentic partnerships with our school communities, tangata whenua and our values of whakapono, tūmanako and aroha. Our strength is also in our graduates teaching around Aotearoa who engage in the project of education with heart and soul.”

“The new Education programmes offer an exciting pathway for anyone who wants to train as a teacher in a supportive, Christian tertiary environment,” says Laidlaw National Principal, Dr Roshan Allpress. “We are thrilled at the vote of confidence the Teaching Council has given us as a community provider, and look forward to being able to train new cohorts of teachers for state, integrated and private schools in Tāmaki Makaurau, Ōtautahi, and beyond.”
