Centre for Church Leadership Director
The Opportunity
The Laidlaw Centre for Church Leadership (CfCL) exists to bless, love, and serve the Church of Aotearoa New Zealand by providing its leaders with tools and support to flourish. This includes coaching programmes for church leaders, resourcing for church health and discipleship and growing a supportive ecosystem. We are looking for a new Director to oversee the Centre, who will lead the team and delivery of our strategic priorities, championing Christian leadership flourishing and formation.
This is an Auckland based role, reporting to our Head of Theology, working alongside our CfCL Coordinator and Senior Coaches. Regular nationwide travel will be required. While full time hours are preferred, applications from those available to work 4 days a week would be actively considered. Please outline your availability in your application.

Broadly, your areas of responsibility will include:
Overseeing the coaching programme
- Developing and implementing the coaching strategy in collaboration with the Senior Coaches.
- Leading team culture, infrastructure, networking, and systems.
Engagement with the Wider Community
- Building relationships with churches and church leaders in Aotearoa, representing both CfCL and Laidlaw College.
- Curating key engagement events and the growth of a support ecosystem for church leaders, including the provision of quality resources and workshops.
Teaching and Research
- Overseeing research that informs our understanding of the Church and church leadership in Aotearoa.
- Teaching in the various delivery modes used by the College on church leadership as require.
Participation in College and CfCL Community
- Engaging wholeheartedly in the communal life and activities of the College.
- Contributing to identifying areas for growth and stewardship.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will bring the following skills:
- A qualification in Theology or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience in leading a church, with excellent pastoral and interpersonal skills
- Experience in coaching, preferably with those in ministry and mission leadership roles.
- Confident and fluid oral and written communication skills.
- Active involvement in a local Christian church and in Christian initiatives in the wider community.
